Apple has always wished that it could invite more developers to attend its WWDC conference every June, but Moscone West is one of the biggest venues that it can find in the San Francisco area. Even if Apple had a larger venue, it has become increasingly difficult to secure a WWDC ticket in the first place over the past few years. This time around, Apple implemented a lottery system to determine how the tickets would be dispersed.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that Russian authorities have detained two young hackers for hijacking iOS devices through iCloud and holding them ransom for payment. The suspects, both residents of the Southern Administrative District of Moscow, are a 23-year-old named Ivan and an unnamed 17-year-old that served as his accomplice.
Russia's Ministry of Internal Affairs announced on Monday that the hackers were detained during the course of "operational activities" by the Russian Interior Ministry. Just in case there weren't already enough signs pointing towards the launch of a larger iPhone or two later this year, a new Adaptive Display framework in iOS 8 is a telltale clue that wider and taller screens could be on the horizon. As reported by The Guardian, the developer protocol is called UIAdaptivePresentationControllerDelegate, and works with a presentation controller to determine how to respond to size changes in apps.
If that sounds like a bunch of garble, allow me to explain in slightly more simplified terms. Apple has improved two frameworks called UIKit and AppKit, making it easier for developers to support multiple screen sizes and orientations. Apple does have multiple screen sizes, ranging from 3.5-inch and 4-inch iPhones to 7.9-inch and 9.7-inch iPads, and the consensus is that 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhones will soon crack the list.

The well-connected and reliable John Paczkowski of Re/code reports this afternoon that Apple is slated to announce its first wearable device in October. While noting that things can certainly change between now and the fall, Paczkowski claims that October is the tentative date in which Apple hopes to host a special event to show off its first wearable device.
The report does not specifically mention the oft-rumored iWatch as the product that Apple will introduce, but that is one of the devices that the company has been speculated to release for the past several months. The wearable device that Apple does release will reportedly make good use of the Health and HealthKit platforms that the company unveiled at its WWDC keynote earlier this week.
