iPhone 3GS “Tremendously” Popular on AT&T

After announcing the iPhone 4S pricing at its "Let's Talk iPhone" event on October 4th, Apple also announced that it would be further reducing the pricing for the older generation iPhone 3GS 8GB from $49 to $0 with a 2-year carrier agreement.

According to President and CEO of AT&T Mobility Ralph de la Vega, this price drop has translated to "tremendous" demand for the device...

iPhone 4S Parts Cost Same as iPhone 4

The folks over at iSuppli have teared down the new iPhone 4S, this time providing a detailed analysis as well as the estimated cost to manufacture the handset.

While the iPhone 4S looks almost completely identical to the previous generation iPhone 4, there are some changes inside the new handset which seem to have translated to a 50 cent cost increase from the iPhone 4...

AT&T Activates One Million iPhone 4S Devices

The iPhone 4S has been a tremendous success for all three of the US carriers that currently sell the handset. But it seems that AT&T is getting a little more success compared to Apple's other two iPhone 4S partners.

AT&T today announced that it has activated more than one million iPhone 4S devices as of Tuesday, making the iPhone 4S launch the most successful launch in the carrier's history...

The iPhone 4S Gets Sent to Space

Many people have bought an iPhone 4S already, but none of us have sent our iPhone to space. Thats exactly what a YouTube user by the name of "FinalCutKing" did. He purchased two iPhone 4s's on launch day, and put them in a helium balloon. He then sent them up, and waited patiently for them to fall safely back to Earth. While the iPhones were up there, they took some amazing footage of the Earth's atmosphere.

Apple Wanted Siri to Have a “Light Attitude”

A recent report by the Wall Street Journal focuses on Norman Winarsky, one of the co-founders of Siri. According to Winarsky, Siri came from an artificial intelligence project at SRI, a R&D group.

When Apple was starting to integrate Siri, they wanted it "friendly and humble—but also with an edge." This way of thinking is made evident by the fact that Siri does have many personality traits. To attest to this, someone started a blog called "Sh#! That Siri Says," where users can send in their own humorous responses from Siri....

Official Google Voice App Removed from the App Store

If you've tried downloading the official Google Voice app from the App Store within the last 21 hours, you've probably had no luck finding it. That's because Google has removed the app.

According to Engadget, Senior Product Manager for Google Voice Vincent Paquet stated that the app had been pulled, due to a bug in the new version that caused the app to crash at sign in...

iPhone 4S Purchased Off-Contract on AT&T is Already Unlocked

Although Apple has stated that it won't sell the iPhone 4S unlocked until sometime in November, reports are showing that several people in the US have already obtained an unlocked iPhone 4S from the Apple Store.

One of those lucky individuals happens to be iOS developer Steven Troughton-Smith. Steven Troughton-Smith is also the developer behind the port of Siri to the iPhone 4 and iPad 2. We at iDownloadBlog have been able to purchase a retail iPhone 4S and use it on T-Mobile...

AllMail Brings Better Mail Management to iOS 5

If you purchased Delete Mail or Mark Read for your iDevice, you may have noticed that neither extension is compatible yet with the new Mail app in iOS 5. The iOS 5 update brings new mail management features to your device, but “Select All” is nowhere to be found.

Many of us with large email inboxes are very wary of manually selection multiple emails to apply Mail actions. Simply put, it is very disappointing that neither Mark Read or DeleteMail have received iOS 5 updates yet.

Thankfully, a new jailbreak tweak has been released to solve your massive message management woes. Most of Cydia's recent activity has been centered on compatibility updates, but some game-changing newcomers have been appearing in the updates. Enter AllMail...

Siri’s Port to the iPhone 4 Improved

Yesterday, Siri was successfully ported to the iPhone 4 and shown on video. Today, the same person who made that video has uploaded another one, which shows more improvement.

In the first video, Siri was lagging, and looked like it could barely run on the iPhone 4. This is because the GPU was disabled for Siri, putting all the pressure on the A4 processor. As you can see in this video, Siri now works the way it should on the iPhone 4 performance-wise...

iPhone 4S Death Grip Test

Remember the iPhone 4 antennagate debacle? For those of you who don't, when Apple released the GSM iPhone 4 last year, users began to notice that when the handset was held with the left hand, connecting the two antennas, cell reception dropped significantly (this was dubbed the "death grip"), often resulting in complete signal loss.

Although Apple tried to fix the antenna problem with a software update, the update did not completely rid the iPhone 4 of the issue. Apple then decided to give out free bumper cases, which seemed to prevent the antenna problem from occurring.

Last week, Apple announced the new iPhone 4S, in addition to an improved 8MP camera, Siri, and new A5 processor, included a redesigned antenna...

AT&T and Sprint Report iPhone 4S Success

The iPhone 4S officially went on sale in the US yesterday, and unsurprisingly, it has provided record-setting sales for at least two of the three major U.S carriers that offer the device.

AT&T on Friday confirmed to BGR in an email that it has activated a record number of iPhones and is on track to double its previous record of activations in a single day.

Sprint, which didn’t start carrying the iPhone until this month, reported its best ever day of sales in retail, web, and telesales for a device family in Sprint history, thanks to the launch of the new iPhone 4S and iPhone 4...

WhatsApp Messenger Now Free For a Limited Time

WhatsApp Messenger, a popular IM app, has gone free in the App Store. What makes WhatsApp different from other IM apps is that it is cross platform, meaning it works on Android, BlackBerry, and Nokia phones.

WhatsApp is currently free in the App Store for a limited time. This is because Apple took WhatsApp head on with iMessage in iOS 5...
