Apple will pay $50 million in settlement over defective butterfly MacBook keyboards

It has been years since Apple was hit with a major class action lawsuit over the defective butterfly keyboard Apple utilized years ago. In 2020 Apple introduced the redesigned 13-inch MacBook Pro, and, with it, a return to the old, familiar keyboard design. And, despite the changes, the company still needs to face the result of that class action lawsuit. Which means paying out a lot of money.

Some companies take a more aggressive approach to redesigns, offering up new looks to their software (or hardware!) on a speedy basis. Some, though, take a much slower approach and don't refresh anything for years. But sometimes things just need a sprucing, and Amazon Prime Video definitely falls into that category.

Netflix taps Microsoft to be its partner for the upcoming ad-supported tier

An ad-supported tier for Netflix has been rumored for a bit now, but it only became official earlier this year when Netflix's co-CEO, Ted Sarandos, confirmed the upcoming tier. That obviously led to some discussion regarding who Netflix would partner with, because it would be a huge deal for any advertising company to land Netflix. Turns out, it won't be an advertising company after all.

Apple seeds first iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 betas to public beta testers

Apple introduced iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 back in June, during the keynote for this year's Worldwide Developers Conference. Right after that event wrapped up, the company seeded the first developer betas for the upcoming software updates. Which means public beta testers have had to wait until July to get their chance with the prerelease software. The good news is, the wait is over.

A lot of people like watching sporting events from home, especially when it comes to National Football League games. It's a pretty big deal! Which is why it makes sense why Apple would want to try and lock down the streaming rights to a lot of those games, so it can get even more subscribers to Apple TV+. And it sounds like we'll finally know whether or not that will become a reality pretty soon.
