Just Mobile’s Gum Max Supercharges Your iPhone and iPad On the Go

Our friends at Just Mobile have announced the Gum Max portable battery for Apple's line of iDevices. The stylish, portable battery has more than enough juice to fully charge any device that sports an Apple dock connector or mini-USB port.

The Gum Max's aluminum shell and LED indicators help it fit in perfectly with your other Apple products and accessories, and the battery itself can be easily stored in a large pocket or laptop bag.

You Can Now Buy AppleCare+ Within 30 Days of Your iPhone Purchase

Apple introduced AppleCare+ alongside the release of the iPhone 4S, and there's been plenty of confusion surrounding the new warranty plan since then. Instead of the typical AppleCare plan that has been in place for years, AppleCare+ offers extended coverage to new iPhone customers with new requirements.

If you bought an iPhone 4S on launch day, you're unable to buy AppleCare+ now. If you plan on purchasing the iPhone 4S, or didn't buy it on launch day, you have a 30-day window to purchase the plan before you're left out in the unprotected cold.

Make Siri Jealous with Alfred as Your Personal Assistant

Today I'm reviewing a personal assistant for the iPhone, and its name isn't Siri.

Alfred is your intelligent assistant for wining, dining, and generally having a good time. The app answers questions like, "What should I eat?" and "Where should I party?" Alfred learns over time, and pretty soon you'll find that the charming little robot knows more about yourself than you do.

iPad App Store Updated With Subtle Interface Changes

Sometimes it's the little things that really make a difference. Apple has updated the iPad version of the App Store with a subtle, yet very helpful, interface tweak.

Like usual, new apps and staff picks have been put on the App Store homepage for this week. But there's a new gestured-based feature that you may have missed...

Amazon Expected to Release a KindlePhone Next Year

Amazon recently unveiled the Kindle Fire. The new tablet has seen a fair amount of success, although it's definitely not an iPad killer. What's next for Amazon? A phone, of course!

While details on such a device are scarce, it's believed that Amazon will launch a KindlePhone in 2012. Android is expected to be the operating system of choice...

The Only Game Apple Ever Made For the App Store is Now Dead

Apple has killed the only game it ever made for the App Store. Texas Hold'em for iPhone is no longer available. The game originally debuted on the iPod in 2006, and Texas Hold'em was revamped with the launch of the App Store in 2008.

The game was sold for $4.99 and was last updated in September of 2008, which goes to show how much Apple cared about the title in the first place.

Minecraft for iPhone and iPad Now Live in the App Store [Updated]

The pocket edition of Minecraft is now available for the iPhone and iPad in the App Store. We told you that Minecraft was coming to the iOS platform a couple of months ago, and now it's finally here.

Fans of the popular game will be pleased to know that the iOS version looks and feels just like its desktop counterpart. Minecraft for iOS lacks online play support, but there's still enough world-building fun to make it an attractive download.

Readability Takes On Instapaper by Going Free, New iOS App On the Way

Popular online reading service Readability has announced several big changes, including the long-awaited release of a native iOS app in the App Store. Not only that, but Readability will now be free for everyone, with users able to subscribe for a small fee to gain access to the "premium" experience.

Like Instapaper and Read It Later, Readability makes it easy to save and read articles online across a variety of devices. While many of the platforms' features overlap, Readability offers several things that services like Instapaper do not.

Google Resurrects Gmail in the App Store

Google has put its Gmail app back on the App Store. After an embarrassing fiasco in which the app was made available and then pulled after only a couple of hours, Gmail for iOS has been resubmitted to the App Store for everyone to download.

Does the app still suck? You be the judge...
