Noctua announces collaborative GeForce RTX 5080 graphics card with ASUS, featuring excellent cooling fan acoustics

In June, PC accessory maker Noctua introduced the second generation of their ultra-quiet and high-performing NF-A12x25 case cooling fans, which featured improvements not only in decibel levels, but also airflow and static pressure metrics to yield a better PC cooling experience with less noise.

Today, Noctua said that it was furthering its mission to develop ultimate performance-to-noise efficient PC components for high-end gaming systems with the announcement of the ASUS GeForce RTX 5080 Noctua Edition graphics card.

Noctua frequently collaborates with other brands to build PC components, generally featuring the brand’s cooling fans and signature brown color. Some examples include power supplies with Seasonic, computer mice with Pulsar, and keyboards with Drop.

The GeForce RTX 5080 Noctua Edition, based on the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 graphics card, is a particularly exciting release because it’s a high-end gaming-oriented graphics card that falls just short of the current flagship – the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090.

Not only does this collaboration GPU offer a co-developed heatsink with ASUS, but Noctua says it’s also the first gaming GPU to feature a triple 120x25mm fan configuration. What’s more is it uses Noctua’s latest-generation NF-A12x25 fans – the higher static pressure of which pairs nicely with the custom heatsink.

The custom heatsink is said to feature an extensive vapor chamber with seven 8mm and four 6mm heat pipes. Offset speed fans reduce the occurrence of a phenomena where cooling fans placed close to one another and rotating at the same speed would often cause unpleasant acoustics like humming, vibrations, or other beat frequencies.

Having said that, this promises to be a high-performing graphics card, not only in graphical performance, but in quiet operation that users will hardly hear when the fans ramp up to cool the GPU.
