Learn how to troubleshoot issues with the sign-in failing when accessing your Apple account on the web in the Safari, Chrome, Edge, or Firefox browser.

The Apple account web interface at account.apple.com lets you view your personal information, change settings, manage subscriptions, and more in a web browser.

But sometimes you just cannot sign in. This can happen because of a myriad of reasons, including temporary service issues, incorrect login credentials, failure to receive verification codes, system glitches, or bugs in your web browser. Here are all the solutions to fix the sign-in issue when accessing your Apple account on the web.
Check Apple’s system status
To check if the sign-in issue is on Apple’s end, visit its System Status page. Services like Apple Account, iCloud Account & Sign In, iCloud Web Apps, and Sign in with Apple should all work. If there’s an outage, wait until it’s resolved on Apple’s end.
Sign in using Face ID or Touch ID
When accessing your Apple account in Safari on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac, authenticate with Touch ID or Face ID when asked and see if that helps.
Sign in with your passkey
Visit account.apple.com/sign-in in Safari or Chrome on your iPhone or iPad. Enter your Apple account email address and then choose the “Sign in with Passkey” option. This will let you use a saved passkey for the website to authenticate with Face ID or Touch ID without entering the password.
Check your Apple account credentials
Double-check you’ve entered the correct email address and password for your Apple account. In countries like India and China, you can also use your phone number as your Apple account username instead of your email address. If you’ve forgotten your Apple account email address, follow these steps to find it. If you don’t remember your Apple account password, reset it using one of these methods. If your Apple account is locked, refer to this guide for possible solutions.
If you have issues with the sign-in code
Every time you sign in to your Apple account on a new device or browser, you must enter a verification code sent to your trusted devices, which must be online to receive codes. If you don’t have a second Apple device, you can have the code sent to your mobile number via text or phone call.
If you cannot access the mobile phone number on file with your Apple account, use your recovery contacts or recovery key to regain access, provided you set these up earlier on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Otherwise, click “Can’t use [phone number]” and follow the onscreen steps to recover access to your account. You can submit a request to recover your Apple account, which will take a few days to process.
Try signing in via a private browser window
Open a private window in your browser and then try signing into your Apple account.
Use a different browser
If you’re using some lesser-known, obscure web browser, you may experience sign-in issues when accessing your account. Switch to Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Firefox and retry.
Restart your device
System glitches can cause a range of problems, including sign-in problems with websites. Restart your device and try logging in to your Apple account again.
Use a different Wi-Fi network
If you’re still unable to log in, quit your browser, switch to a different Wi-Fi network, and then reopen the browser. If there are no other Wi-Fi networks available, you can use the Personal Hotspot feature on your iPhone or cellular data instead.
Clear browser data
If these troubleshooting tips did nothing for you, visit account.apple.com on another device and try signing in. If successful, the problem is with your browser, not Apple. Try disabling all browser extensions, and if that doesn’t help, clear all browser data and history. While at it, be sure your web browser is updated.
