iPhone and iPad users alike have long benefited from the native Picture-in-Picture video viewing mode that iOS & iPadOS bring to the table. This mode allows a miniature video window to appear anywhere on your display and over the top of in-app content so that you can keep watching while you multitask.
But the native Picture-in-Picture mode does have some shortcomings, such as being stashed away when you open the App Switcher or use the Camera app, and iOS developer uz.ra is out with a new jailbreak tweak today called Nazuna that improves the native Picture-in-Picture mode feature in more ways than one.
Once installed, Nazuna adds a dedicated preference pane to the Settings app where users can configure the tweak to their liking:
Among the different things that you can do here are:
- Toggle Nazuna on or off on demand
- Disable stashing the Picture-in-Picture mode when opening the App Switcher
- Disable interrupting the Picture-in-Picture mode when opening the Camera
- Hide the progress bar from the Picture-in-Picture mode
- Adjust the corner radius of the Picture-in-Picture mode window via a slider
- Change the skip interval via a slider
- Enable the long-press action
- Choose what happens when you long-press on the Picture-in-Picture window:
- Fixed second
- Smooth seek
- Choose what happens when you double-tap on the Picture-in-Picture window:
- Original
- Mute/Unmute (iOS 15 only)
- Skip/Rewind (Tap interval)
- Skip/Rewind (Long press interval)
- Reset all options to their defaults
- Respring to save any changes you’ve made
With all these options afforded by the Nazuna jailbreak tweak, you can adjust not only the appearance and behavior of your device’s Picture-in-Picture mode, but you can even change what happens when you interact with it in certain ways.
Those wanting to give Nazuna a try can purchase a copy of the tweak for $1.99 from the Havoc repository via their favorite package manager app. The tweak supports jailbroken iOS & iPadOS 15 and 16 devices and has been tested extensively on the Dopamine and RootHide jailbreaks.
