The Nintendo Switch 2 finally became available almost one full month ago, and it’s been particularly challenging to find in any retail stores since its launch. Obviously, Nintendo is having a rough time keeping up with demand.

While Nintendo hasn’t officially announced any of its official Nintendo Switch2 sales numbers just yet, it seems that the company accidentally updated its Investor Relations website on Tuesday to reveal that more than 5.4 million Nintendo Switch 2 consoles have been sold across the globe since launching on June 5th, 2025. These are Nintendo’s official numbers – not estimates.
In case you needed some context, this compares to approximately 2.74 million units of the original Nintendo Switch being sold during its first month of availability, so the Nintendo Switch 2 sold almost twice as many units in the same timeframe.
While the information has since been pulled, a report first shared by a user of the /r/Switch subreddit offers a breakdown into the regional sales numbers of Nintendo’s newest game console:
- Americas: ~1.8 million units
- Japan: ~1.6 million units
- Europe: ~1.18 million units
- Other: ~600,000 units
These numbers are particularly impressive because they break a record for Nintendo. Even competing platforms don’t clock these kinds of numbers – Sony’s PlayStation 5 only sold about 3.4 million units in its first month of availability. This underscores the apparent popularity of Nintendo’s latest gaming platform.
It remains to be seen why Nintendo pulled this information from their Investor Relations website, but we expect the data will be announced in the future. Nintendo will want to share how well their Nintendo Switch 2 is selling at some point, especially given just how hard it is to come across one without buying from a scalper as inventory at stores has yet to catch up.
