How to make iPhone Lock Screen clock bigger in iOS 26

Learn how to increase the Lock Screen clock size on your iPhone or iPad in iOS 26 to make it easier to read or to add an exciting new visual impact.

Huge clock on iPhone Lock Screen

iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 permit you to make the Lock Screen clock much bigger for some pretty interesting looks.

If you provide an appropriate wallpaper picture (see the top image above) and satisfy other conditions, the big clock even honors the depth effect on the Lock Screen.

Change the Lock Screen clock size on iPhone or iPad

1) Wake up your device and unlock it via Face ID or by resting your finger on Touch ID, but don’t swipe to go to the Home Screen. Then, touch and hold anywhere on the Lock Screen until it shrinks down, and tap Customize.

2) Touch the pull tab in the lower right corner of the digital clock and drag it down to make it bigger. You can either drag down as far as it goes to have the clock take nearly half the screen, or set the size to something in between.

3) Finally, tap Done to save the new changes and exit the customization screen.

If you can’t change the Lock Screen clock size

When you follow the above steps on your iPhone or iPad running iOS 26 or iPadOS 26 but don’t see the pull tab to change the clock size, that’s because you’re using a different clock script or font style. Here’s how to fix this and change the Lock Screen clock size:

1) Return to your Lock Screen customization screen and tap the digital clock at the top to bring up its controls.

2) Now, tap the globe icon on the left side and make sure you’re using the Arabic Western script.

3) Next, select the default font style, that is, the very first option on the left. As of now, changing the Lock Screen clock size is unsupported for other font styles.

4) Once you have taken care of the above two things, you’ll see the pull tab to make the clock bigger. Use it to adjust the clock size accordingly.

What happens to Lock Screen widgets when you make the clock bigger

The Lock Screen widgets under the clock automatically shift to the bottom of the screen (above the flashlight and camera controls) after you increase the clock size by the slightest.

Tip: When you’re trying to drag down the pull tab to increase the clock size, but can’t touch it because of the overlapping widget box, place your finger on the widget area and manually drag it down. You should have no trouble now touching and pulling down the clock tab to make it larger.

Make the Lock Screen clock smaller

You can’t make the Lock Screen clock any smaller than the default size. But if you’ve made it bigger and don’t like how your Lock Screen looks afterwards, follow the same steps and drag the pull tab up to decrease the size.

Note that the iOS 26 Lock Screen clock becomes miniature when you’re playing media on your iPhone, and tap the album art to take up the entire screen.
