Software developer Simon B. Støvring, perhaps best known for their fun and quirky macOS apps including holiday desktop lighting effects app Festivitas and micro-aggression curing app Smash Smash, appears to be hard at work once again on yet another app that’s sure to go viral among Mac users.
Citing a thread shared by Støvring on social media platform 𝕏 (formerly Twitter), their latest creation is an app called Accelerated Input that lets them invoke a shortcut for an interface providing AI-centric options for transforming bodies of text to suit a specific need for the end user.
In one of the posts, Støvring shares a screenshot of highly specialized commands that they created for their app, such as:
- Correcting text spelling & formatting
- Transforming text into pirate speak
- Transforming text into coworker-friendly communication
- Transforming text into Emojis
- Simplifying text
- Expanding text
- Transforming text into a posh accent
- Transforming text into stand-up comedian-style speech
Users appear to be able to add or remove commands at their leisure, naming them what they wish and then entering a prompt that will ultimately tell the AI what it’s supposed to do with the text. In the case of the “To Coworkers” command, Støvring has told the AI to make the text suitable for coworkers without being too formal, but while retaining all original Emojis.
It’s worth noting that while AI tools like Apple Intelligence can already do these kinds of things in certain apps, Støvring plans to make their app more accessible by way of a shortcut. This will make the tool accessible from any app, without having to re-prompt Apple Intelligence or any other AI tool for what you want since you’ve already pre-configured commands beforehand.
We’re excited to continue following Støvring’s progress on the Accelerated Input app, and hope to have a moment to try it out when it becomes available to all Mac users.
