HarlemShake Reborn breathes new life into a popular animation jailbreak tweak from 2013

Depending on how long you’ve been jailbreaking iPhones, you might recall a jailbreak tweak called Harlem Shake by former tweak developer Filippo Bigarella that brought fun and quirky animations to your iPhone’s Home Screen, Lock Screen, and the likes. We covered that release back in 2013, and it was a popular addition back then.

Fast-forward to today, and iOS developer pkgFiles has recreated the Harlem Shake jailbreak tweak in the form of HarlemShake Reborn.

While Harlem Shake isn’t the viral sensation today that it was back in 2013, this replica jailbreak tweak for modern devices and jailbreaks lets jailbreakers re-live simpler times when animated chaos could run rampant on your Home Screen just for the sake of entertainment and showing off to friends.

After you install HarlemShake Reborn, you can head over the Settings app to enable the tweak and respring your device to save the changes:

Initiating the Harlem Shake animation is as simple as shaking your iPhone while you’re on the Home Screen. Doing so not only begins the crazy animations, but it also plays the Harlem Shake from 2013. It’s worth noting that if you keep your ringer/silent switch on silent, you won’t hear the music, but you’ll still see the animations. Those animations include randomly moving app icons, the wallpaper, the Dock, and much more.

The developer shared in a post to /r/jailbreak over the weekend that HarlemShake Reborn supports all jailbroken handsets running iOS 14 and later. It has been tested on various jailbreaks, including Dopamine, uncover, and XinaA15. The developer says it will not work with the FloatingDock jailbreak tweak.

If you’re interested in giving HarlemShake Reborn a try, then you can download it for free from pkgFiles’ personal repository via your favorite package manager app. Moreover, if you aren’t using the pkgFiles repository, then you can add it to your package manager app with the URL provided below:
