New AniTime jailbreak tweak shows the Lock Screen’s time with animated anime characters

Looking to spice up your jailbroken iPhone’s Lock Screen? If so, then look no further than AniTime, a new jailbreak tweak by iOS developer yandevelop that gives your iPhone’s Lock Screen an animated anime-inspired time display experience.

Adding a touch of personality to your iPhone’s time display, AniTime is a fun way for jailbreakers to tell the time at any given moment of the day. While you could stick with the boring stock Lock Screen clock, AniTime brings flair and personality to the interface, which may be especially appreciated by anime lovers.

As you can see in the screenshot examples above, you might see anywhere from 3-4 anime characters showing the time, depending on the number of digits required to express the current time. These characters animate, but you can choose to use static images if you prefer less movement. Moreover, you can customize things like size, spacing, time format, and more.

Once installed, AniTime adds a dedicated preference pane to the Settings app where users can configure the tweak to their liking:

Among the different options that you can configure here are:

  • Toggling AniTime on or off on demand
  • Choosing between animated or static images
  • Choosing between a small, compact, or normal-sized clock
  • Choosing between very tight, tight, normal, or wide digit spacing
  • Choosing between a system-defined, 12-hour, or 24-hour time display format
  • Hide or show the seconds in your time display

Because the Lock Screen is something that you see every time you interact with your device, this is a low-key way to add some flavor to your iPhone without going over the top. In fact, we find a lot of the default settings to be subtle and appropriate just the way they are.

If you’re interested in using AniTime for your iPhone’s time display experience, then you can purchase the tweak for $1.49 from the Havoc repository via your favorite package manager app. The tweak supports jailbroken iOS & iPadOS 14, 15, 16, and 17 devices. Additionally, while you can use this tweak on jailbreaks like palera1n and Dopamine, you can also use it with the RootHide bootstrap.
