As we continue to spiral more closely to the Nintendo Switch 2 announcement and launch, Nintendo is heating up the news cycle. Last week the gaming company released the new “Nintendo Today!” App for iPhone. Nintendo promises to engage users with updated information and goodies, including a few gaming inspired wallpapers.

According to the launch page, within the app, users with an official Nintendo account can expect daily updates, “whether it’s news about the Nintendo Switch 2 system and video games, info about your favorite characters, or videos and comic strips — you’ll get personalized fun every day.”
You will be able to monitor upcoming, important events on an animated calendar with themes from popular franchises like Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, and Animal Crossing. These will also be available on iOS devices as themed calendar widgets, which will provide links into specific content.
The calendar will be pre-populated with event schedules for Nintendo Direct presentations, game launches, in-game events, and more Nintendo focused experiences, which can be filled by categories or games of your preference.
I have to say I’m really enjoying the classic Super Mario wallpaper, listed first in the download gallery. Having Mario running across the Home or Lock Screen is a fun way to engage with the franchise on a daily basis, when away from my Switch. Hopefully, Nintendo will continue to release similar downloads in the future.
