Dopamine, the iOS & iPadOS 15-16-esque jailbreak tool developed by Lars Fröder, the same developer behind the TrollStore perma-signing utility, picked up another small update this weekend in the form of version 2.4.2.

Citing the change log on the project’s GitHub page, Dopamine v2.4.2 appears to incorporate the following changes and improvements over the previous release:
- Extend library validation bypass to also work when something manually invokes fcntl in the dyld_shared_cache
- Remove stray macho magics from patched dyld, works around issues where third party software (e.g. Frida) would mistake the wrong page to be the start of dyld, causing it to fail in unpredictable ways (Regarding Frida, there is still an issue where it conflicts with the spinlock panic fix, but I don’t think there is anything I can do on Dopamine’s end to fix it, the issue is being tracked here) (Credits to @tihmstar for helping with debugging)
- Update bootstrap tarball (Better late than never?)
These small tweaks to the Dopamine jailbreak aren’t likely to yield any substantially noticeable changes to the end user, but they assist in tidying things up under the hood. From running better with certain apps, to being more stable, this is an update that we can safely recommend to everyone who already uses the Dopamine jailbreak.
Dopamine continues to be the newest jailbreak for arm64e devices (A12 and newer), despite being made for iOS & iPadOS 15 and 16. iOS & iPadOS 16 support was made possible by the Kaspersky Team’s Operation Triangulation PPL bypass, and it remains to be seen if we’ll ever get a newer PPL bypass or later versions of iOS & iPadOS 16 or a SPTM bypass for iOS & iPadOS 17 and later firmware going forward.
If you’re already running an older version of Dopamine, then you can launch the app and it will prompt you to install the latest update over the air. You can also manually download and install the latest version over your existing installation with TrollStore and simply reboot and re-jailbreak to apply the latest patches.
Anyone who isn’t already using the Dopamine jailbreak, who has a compatible device, is advised to use the latest version when they attempt using it for the smoothest user experience possible.
Those wanting to take advantage of the Dopamine jailbreak for the first time can follow the steps in our step-by-step tutorial to get started. Dopamine can be downloaded from the project’s GitHub page and supports the following firmware and hardware combinations at the time of this writing:
