Extrude is an app for jailbroken iOS that compares to Windows Task Manager or macOS Activity Monitor

If you’re in search of next-level control over each and every process that runs on your jailbroken iPhone or iPad, then a newly released app called Extrude by iOS developer Hans32 just might check all the boxes on whatever requirements list you’re keeping.

Just as you can see for yourself in the screenshot examples that we’ve embedded above, Extrude is an app that lets you not only view, but also pause or even terminate virtually any process actively running in your instance of iOS or iPadOS. Think of it like Windows Task Manager or macOS Activity Monitor for iOS & iPadOS.

Once you open the app, you’re presented with a list of running processes, which you can then search from using the search bar if you’re looking for anything specific. When you tap on a specific process, you’ll find details about it, along with its PID and buttons to either pause or kill the process.

The raw path of the process can also be copied so you can paste it elsewhere in the operating system, such as to share a specific path with another user, or to launch the path in a file manager app like Filza so that you can perform additional actions.

The developer rightfully cautions uses in the Havoc depiction page that pausing or terminating processes can have risks if you don’t know exactly what you’re doing, so we caution that perhaps only users with advanced knowledge about daemons and background processes should tinker with this app, as new users who aren’t totally sure about what they’re pausing or terminating could cause harm to their device.

The developer also notes that the app can be helpful in the event of unexpected device behavior, such as when an app or feature freezes or hangs and you want to be able to terminate that task without using Terminal.

We also think that the user interface for Extrude is user-friendly, which is a huge plus when it comes to apps of this caliber.

Those looking to give Extrude a try can download a copy for themselves absolutely free of charge from the Havoc repository in their package manager app of choice on jailbroken devices running iOS or iPadOS 15 and later.
