Apple’s Beats subsidiary should soon announce the new Powerbeats Pro 2 sporty wireless earbuds, which are already in stock at Walmart.

Press renders leaked on X, and photographs of the earbuds in the new Electric Orange color published on Reddit suggest that a release is imminent. For what it’s worth, Make Gurman wrote in a Bloomberg article that Apple plans to unveil Powerbeats Pro 2 on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.

Powerbeats Pro 2 have adjustable ear hooks for a secure fit and are slimmer than the original 2019 model while costing the same $250 in the United States as before.

The Reddit poster claims to have already purchased Powerbeats Pro 2 from Walmart. “My local Walmart had them in the cage,” the poster explained. “I asked if I could buy them, and they said yes.” The new earphones feature the volume rocker versus the Play/Pause button on the previous model. The wireless charging case is apparently halfway between the previous Powerbeats Pro and Beats Fit Pro.

Information about Powerbeats Pro 2 has leaked heavily so we already know that the official Powerbeats Pro successor packs several improvements, including heart rate sensors built into each earbud to measure the heart rate during workouts.

Powerbeats Pro 2 will also have active noise cancellation for the first time and run the Apple H2 chip for the latest computational audio features like conversation awareness that the iPhone maker groups under the umbrella term Adaptive Audio. The H2 should also enable improved battery life and better sound quality.

The poster says Powerbeats Pro 2 offer good bass without distortion and considers them worth upgrading from the previous model. “These don’t hurt my ears like Beats Fit Pro and don’t move when running out of all the buds I’ve tested,” he wrote.

Powerbeats are my favorite earbuds for workouts

Powerbeats Pro are true wireless earphones that don’t have a neckband-style wire connecting them. The original model I owned are the best workout-focused wireless earbuds I’ve had, so I’ll be awaiting the new version with keen interest. The first Powerbeats model was released in 2016, before the AirPods era. Two years earlier, Apple acquired Beats for $3 billion, its largest acquisition to date.

Apple stopped carrying Powerbeats Pro in October 2024. In anticipation of their successor, Apple has added the new Matte Black, Champagne Gold and Statement Red color options for its recently relaunched portable Beats Pill speaker while bringing the new Storm Gray, Arctic Purple, Matte Black and Transparent Red colors to Beats Solo Buds, plus Matte Black, Cloud Pink and Slate Blue to Beats Solo 4.
