Lock your jailbroken iPhone by placing it face down with the GetDown tweak

Interested in a new and nonchalant way to lock your iPhone when you’re finished using it? If so, then make sure you take some time to check out a free jailbreak tweak called GetDown by iOS developer uz.ra.

While you’re likely accustomed to pressing the sleep/wake button on the right side of your iPhone to lock it when you’re finished using it, that’s no longer required with GetDown.

Instead, you can simply place your iPhone face down on any table surface, and the tweak uses the iPhone’s built-in gyroscope to recognize its position in just a split second and lock your device for you.

We tested GetDown extensively, and it’s not overly sensitive to face down placement, which means you can’t accidentally lock your iPhone. It takes around 1/2-3/4 of a second for the face down placement to be recognized, after which it locks your device.

With no options to configure, GetDown works right out of the box from the moment you install it without the need to configure any complex settings.

Is the stock way of locking your device with the sleep/wake button inferior to this method? Not exactly, but I’d rather have my device locked if I place it face down than not lock if I forget to press it, just for the added peace of mind and security, and GetDown does that.

If you’re interested in trying GetDown, then you can download it for free from uz.ra’s personal repository via your favorite package manager app. The tweak supports jailbroken iOS 15 and 16 devices.

Anyone who isn’t already using uz.ra’s personal repository can add it to their package manager app by using the URL provided below:
