The new 2025 Black Unity Collection brings unique Apple Watch bands with a color-changing effect, wallpapers that change orientation and more.
On January 27, Apple unveiled its Black Unity Collection for 2025, which includes special Apple Watch bands, watch faces and iPhone and iPad wallpapers.
Inspired by “the rhythm of humanity,” the new Black Unity Sport Loop band features raised and recessed loops revealing green on one side and red on the other. When worn, the colors dynamically shift from green to red depending on wrist movement, with yellow appearing in the transition to a cool effect.
A matching watch face with custom numerals formed by intertwined red, green and yellow threads also reacts when you raise or lower the wrist. Similarly, the special Unity Rhythm wallpapers for iPhone and iPad change the orientation of the word “Unity” when the device is unlocked and locked.
The Unity Rhythm wallpapers and watch face will arrive alongside the iOS 18.3, iPadOS 18.3, and watchOS 11.3 updates, released today.
The 2025 Black Unity Collection includes color-changing Apple Watch bands
The new 2025 Black Unity Collection honors Black History Month. It is an annual occurrence, with Apple refreshing the collection every year with new Apple Watch bands, special watch fans and wallpapers. This year is no exeption. I find the new Apple Watch band especially cool, but the Unity Rhythm wallpaper and watch face are equally impressive. According to the announcement in Apple Newsroom, the new watch face reacts to the gyroscope sensor in your watch.
“When a user raises their wrist to check the time, the strands coalesce from a series of abstract brush strokes into digits.” When you set this watch face, you’ll also hear “distinctive, rhythmic chimes” marking every hour and half hour. The Unity Rhythm wallpapers use the same custom lettering writing the word “Unity” as the new bands, with threads changing their orientation when the device is unlocked and locked.
Pricing and availability
You can order the new Black Unity Sport Loop band for $49 from the online Apple store, with retail availability starting “beginning this week” in the United States. Available in 42mm and 46mm sizes, the band is compatible with Apple Watch Series 4 and newer, Apple Watch SE and all Apple Watch Ultra models (46mm band only).
The animated Unity Rhythm watch face will be available in watchOS 11.3. It requires Apple Watch Series 6 or later and iPhone Xs or later.
The Unity Rhythm wallpapers will be available in iOS 18.3 and iPadOS 18.3 and require iPhone Xs or later, M4 iPad Pro, third-generation or later 12.9-inch iPad Pro, first-generation 11-inch iPad Pro and later, M2 iPad Air, third-generation iPad Air and later, seventh-generation iPad and later and fifth-generation iPad mini or later.
