We’ve previously discussed the importance of changing your device’s root password after jailbreaking so that unauthorized individuals can’t exploit the default password to SSH into your handset and make potentially malicious changes unbeknownst to you.

But did you know that you can also change your mobile user password? In the case of the Dopamine jailbreak for iOS & iPadOS 15 and 16, the jailbreak app itself offers a built-in feature to help you change your device’s mobile password in just a few taps, and in this tutorial, we’ll walk you through the process.
Changing an iPhone’s mobile user password via Dopamine jailbreak
To change your iPhone or iPad’s mobile user password from the Dopamine jailbreak app after jailbreaking, simply follow the steps outlined below:
1) Ensure that you have already jailbroken your device with Dopamine.
Note: If you have, then you can move on to the next step. If you haven’t, then jailbreak with Dopamine first before moving on to the next step.
2) Launch the Dopamine app from your Home Screen:
3) Tap on the Settings button:
4) Tap on the Change “mobile” Password button:
5) Enter the password you want to use in both the Password and Repeat Password text boxes:
6) Tap on the Change button to save your new password.
Congratulations, in those few steps, you have successfully changed the mobile user password of your jailbroken iPhone or iPad with the Dopamine jailbreak app.
Wrapping up
By default, your mobile user password matches the root password: alpine. By setting something new, the password becomes harder to guess, which increases your device’s security while jailbroken.
It is possible to use the mobile user password for root access using sudo, but if you want to further enhance the security of your jailbroken device, then you can still change the root password separately via a mobile terminal-style app.
