Another week, another bug fix update for the popular Nugget SparseRestore exploit-based device customization utility by iOS developer LeminLimez.

The latest update to Nugget, dubbed version 4.2.3, was announced Monday afternoon in a post shared to social media platform X (formerly Twitter). The post contains a link to the project’s GitHub page where users can acquire the latest release and run it on their Mac or PC.
Citing the change log for Nugget v4.2.3, this update contains a slew of bug fixes and improvements including the following:
– Add the option to revert rdar fix for patched versions in the Settings page
– Checking thermalmonitord now enables Daemon modify toggle automatically
– Fix issue where Daemons from v4.2.2 could not be applied
– Fix custom gestault keys not applying
– Manually compile the bootloader for Windows to (hopefully) stop it from being detected as a virus
Nugget, which enables customizations on non-jailbroken iPhones running iOS 17.0-18.2 developer beta 2 via a Mac or Windows computer, can mimic the functionality of many jailbreak tweaks and enable other things that may not even be available as jailbreak tweaks. A full list of features is maintained on the developer’s GitHub page.
Nugget achieves these hacks with the SparseRestore exploit, which is the same exploit used to install TrollStore on iOS 17.0. In doing so, it can write files outside of the intended restore location, such as mobilegestalt. This can modify device appearance and behavior without a jailbreak, but it carries a slight risk of device instability and bootloops.
Because of the bootloop risk, it is recommended that you back up all your data before trying Nugget so that it isn’t lost if you need to restore your device to factory settings should the worst happen.
If you’re already a Nugget user, or you’re considering giving the utility a try for the first time, version 4.2.3 is now the recommended version to use at the time of this writing. You can acquire it from the releases section of the developer’s GitHub page at no cost.
