Learn about the ways to show YouTube’s dislike counter on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android phone, and Windows PC that Google no longer displays publicly.

YouTube has stopped showing the number of video dislikes. While you can still hit the dislike button, only the video uploader can see the number of dislikes. Thankfully, there are free browser extensions that will show the dislike counter, although that value may not be 100% accurate because it’s not updated in real time.
Note: We’re using legitimate apps and extensions from the official Chrome Web Store, Apple App Store, and Google Play Store to reveal video dislikes on YouTube.
Mac or Windows PC
While the fundamentals are the same, the exact steps differ based on which browser you use.
Chrome and Firefox
If you watch YouTube in Chrome, Opera, Brave, Edge, or Firefox, install the Return YouTube Dislike extension from the Chrome Web Store or Firefox Browser Add Ons page.
After installation, allow the extension to run on YouTube.com, then refresh the YouTube page to see the number of dislikes for that video.
The extension is simple to set up, and there are no post-install steps. It just works, automatically showing dislike counter when watching YouTube videos.
Safari
If you watch YouTube in Safari on your Mac, you’ll need to use the free RYTD extension by developer Rishik Dev.
1) Download the RYTD app/extension from the App Store and be sure to open it at least once.
2) Launch Safari and click Safari > Settings in the menu bar.
3) Select the Extensions tab.
4) Tick the box for RYTD in the sidebar.
5) Visit YouTube.com in Safari, start playing a video, then click the RYTD extension icon at the top of the window and allow it to run.
The dislike button should now display the number of downvotes for this video.
You can learn more about using Safari extensions on a Mac in our dedicated tutorial.
iPhone and iPad
Safari for iPhone and iPad also supports extensions. Peruse our detailed guide covering using Safari extensions on iPhone and iPad for more information.
Here’s what to do to show YouTube’s dislike counter in Safari for iOS and iPadOS.
1) Download the RYTD app on your iPhone or iPad and open it at least once.
2) Go to the Settings app, tap Apps at the bottom, and select Safari.
3) Tap Extensions.
4) You will see the RYTD extension here. Tap it and turn on the Allow Extension option. If you use multiple Safari profiles, toggle on the switch next to each profile where you want to use this extension.
5) With the extension enabled, open Safari and play a YouTube video. Dismiss the popup asking you to open this video in the YouTube app.
6) Now hit the options icon in Safari’s address bar and choose RYTD.
7) Allow this extension when a permission prompt comes up. Tap Done if the RYTD extension info screen shows up.
Going forward, the dislike counter will be visible under YouTube videos in Safari.
If you prefer to use the mobile YouTube app, you can always use the Share menu to copy the video link from the app, then use Safari to reveal the numb of dislikes.
Android phone
Android doesn’t support extensions in its built-in Chrome browser, but the free Kiwi browser does, so use it to download and use an appropriate extension.
1) Download Kiwi Browser from the Google Play Store on your Android phone and open it.
2) Using the Kiwi browser, visit the Chrome Web Store and search for KellyC Show YouTube Dislikes (or follow the direct link).
3) Tap Add to Chrome > OK to install this extension in Kiwi.
4) Visit YouTube.com in the Kiwi browser and play a video. The number of video dislikes should appear next to the thumbs-down icon.
To manage extensions in Kiwi for Android, hit the three-dotted menu button and choose Extensions.
