ReplyActions tweak brings a biteSMS-like messaging experience to modern jailbreaks

If you’ve been jailbreaking iPhones as long as I have, then you may remember a once prominent jailbreak tweak for upgrading what used to be a rather abysmal Messages app user experience called biteSMS.

While the Messages ap has certainly evolved a lot since those days, snagging a lot of biteSMS’ features along the way, we’re seeing something of a rebirth of the once popular add-on in a new release dubbed ReplyActions by iOS developer sergy.

ReplyActions changes the way that you interact with incoming and outgoing messages by letting you quickly compose outgoing messages and reply to incoming messages. Interestingly, the tweak works not only with the stock Messages app, but also with third-party messaging apps like Facebook Messenger, X , Instagram, Telegram, WhatsApp, Viber, and others.

With ReplyActions, you can enjoy a lot of the same features that biteSMS used to bring to now legacy versions of jailbroken iOS. Among those features, the following are particularly high on the list:

  • Pop-up modal preview when you receive a message
  • Quick action for scheduling messages
  • Quick action for marking messages as read
  • Easily switch between iMessage and SMS
  • Quickly initiate a FaceTime Audio or Video call
  • Toast messages for certain actions you perform
  • Profile picture in the pop-up modal preview
  • Send and receive images via the pop-up modal preview
  • Quickly compose messages
  • Apply themes
  • And more…

In addition to these incredible features, ReplyActions supercharges the Messages app with gestures that can help you navigate the user experience with ease. Among the different gestures and things that those gestures do include the following:

  • Swipe down or up to expand or collapse the view
  • Swipe right to dismiss the view
  • Hold and swipe the send button to the left to switch between iMessage and SMS
  • Pressing the photo button lets you select photos to send while long-pressing shows what you’ve selected
  • Pressing the video or phone button lets you call via FaceTime while long-pressing begins a call via the Phone app instead
  • Pressing volume down and volume up opens the Quick Compose interface

It’s worth noting that the ability to schedule text messages is something that comes stock on iOS 18 devices, so if you’ve always wanted this feature, but didn’t want to lose your jailbreak, then ReplyActions offers an opportunity for you to have the best of both worlds.

ReplyActions is available to purchase for $4.99 from the Havoc repository and supports jailbroken iOS 14, 15, 16, and 17 devices. The developer warns that the tweak is intended for rootless jailbreaks and that rootful palera1n isn’t officially supported.
