Jailbreak news of the week: Best Lock Screen tweaks, Cydia updated, iOS 18.0.x PoC, & more…

Not only do we like jailbreaking iPhones and iPads here at iDownloadBlog, but when jailbreaking isn’t an option, we like sideloading unauthorized apps, installing hacks, and learning all about the latest security research breakthroughs that make these kinds of things possible.

Weekly jailbreak news roundup.

We share these kinds of things as news articles week in and week out, but it can be difficult to keep track of for those leading busy lives. For this reason, our team is dedicated to making a weekly roundup every Sunday morning that helps outline all the latest things that may be of interest to people following these spaces.

This week’s roundup encompasses news and releases spanning Monday, November 25th to Sunday, December 1st. As usual, we’ll begin with a list of the most interesting tidbits before moving on to what’s new in jailbreak tweak and other package updates.

Important stuff from this week

iOS & iPadOS 18.0.x PoC

iPhone hacked matrix.

A proof-of-concept for iOS & iPadOS 18.0.x bug CVE-2024-44285 has been released, which raises some eyebrows in terms of potential jailbreaking.

The bug was patched in iOS & iPadOS 18.1, and while it seems unlikely to be pursued for jailbreaking purposes, it may be used for jailed toolbox purposes.

You can learn more about the bug and what we know so far in our full news post.

Cydia Installer updates

Cydia app icon banner image.

The Cydia package manager recently received its first update in more than four years, introducing a fix for the now-archived ModMyi repository URL so that jailbreakers could stay connected to their favorite legacy packages.

While Cydia isn’t used by modern rootless jailbreaks on iOS 15 and later, it is still the primary package manager on older jailbreaks such as checkra1n and unc0ver.

You can learn more about this update and what it entails in our full news post.

A-Bypass jailbreak detection bypass open-sourced

Matrix code hacked iPhone.

A-Bypass, a jailbreak detection bypass by BawAppie, was officially open-sourced on the developer’s GitHub page as of this week, empowering others who are interested in maintaining the project to do so.

With a jailbreak detection bypass, it becomes possible to hide the fact that you’re jailbroken from apps that try to detect it. This can prevent apps from blocking you because your handset is jailbroken.

You can learn more about the open-sourcing of A-Bypass in our full news post.
