It was only last month that we showed you a jailbreak tweak called WireDock, which enabled a customizable color outline around the Dock on your jailbroken handset’s Home Screen.
But if you’re interested in a matching aesthetic for your Home Screen’s Folder icons, then we think you’ll take a liking to a newer free jailbreak tweak release called WireFolders by iOS developer CydiaGeek.
As you can see in the screenshot examples above, WireFolders lets you add colorful outlines to the Folder icons on your Home Screen, and it works hand-in-hand with the WireDock jailbreak tweak for the Dock so that you can produce matching appearance sets.
WireFolders, once installed, adds a dedicated preference pane to the Settings app where you can configure its options to your liking:
Things you can do here include:
- Toggle WireFolders on or off on demand
- Choose a preferred folder icon outline color
- Choose a preferred folder icon outline width
- Respring your device to save any changes you’ve made
In our testing, you have to modify each setting at least once for the tweak to take effect. For example, if you leave everything at the default settings and merely enable the tweak, it won’t take effect. But it will if you change the color and modify the outline width before respringing.
While WireFolders gives you only a subtle modification, it’s an interesting way to add another aesthetic dimension to the Home Screen of jailbroken devices.
This wanting to give WireFolders a try can download it for free from the BigBoss repository via their favorite package manager app. The tweak supports jailbroken iOS 15 and 16 devices.
