In a post shared to X (formerly Twitter) Wednesday afternoon, the AltStore team shared that it had released small updates to both its AltStore PAL alternative App Store for the European Union and its AltStore Classic sideloading platform for the rest of the world.
The latest updates bring AltStore PAL up to version 2.1.5 and AltStore Classic up to version 2.0.1, and we’ll outline what’s new in each of these releases below:
AltStore PAL v2.1.5
– Fix handling Patreon rate limit errors
– Fix crash updating apps if more than one update is available
– Fix crash installing apps if internet connection drops
AltStore Classic v2.0.1
– Add Dark Mode and tinted app icons
– Add Home Screen Quick Actions with support info
– Fix crash when fetching source containing app larger than 2GB
– Fix handling Patreon rate limit errors
– Fix crash updating apps if more than one update is available
– Fix crash installing apps if internet connection drops
As you can probably tell for yourself, there are a lot of similar bug fixes in both updates, but it’s actually the AltStore Classic sideloading utility that received the most out of today’s update, including support for Dark Mode and tinted app icons on devices running iOS & iPadOS 18.0 and later and new Quick Actions from the Home Screen, among other things.
While the AltStore PAL update remains available to everyone who uses it, it’s worth noting that the AltStore Classic update has been temporarily pulled because of an error in compiling that can cause crashes in certain instances. The AltStore Team hopes to have this update back up shortly with a fix, but those who already updated and are now plagued by the crash should be able to resolve the issues by reinstalling AltStore Classic.
