Add a splash of color to your apps’ table view borders with ColorBorderTables

Certain apps in iOS take advantage of what’s called a table view, which divides the components of its user interface into individual rows and columns to make its contents easier to understand.

Table views can be found throughout apps in the iOS user experience. In the Music app, the table view can be found in the navigation interface of the media library, while in the Clock app, the table view can be found while setting a timer. There are surely other examples, but not enough time to list them all.

Typically, those rows and columns are completely invisible in apps, as visible lines can be unsightly. On the other hand, there are certain instances where users may want to personalize their user interface to include table views’ rows and columns, and iOS developer CydiaGeek’s new ColorBorderTables jailbreak tweak can do exactly that.

As you can see in the screenshot examples above, ColorBorderTables colorizes rows and columns of virtually any table view on your device to whatever color you may want.

Once installed, ColorBorderTables adds a dedicated preference pane to the Settings app where you can configure a few different options to your liking:

Things that you can do here include:

  • Toggle ColorBorderTables on or off on demand
  • Select a color to use for an app’s table view rows and columns

A respring isn’t required to save any changes you make, but you may have to force-quit and restart apps that use table views for the tweak to take effect in them. It’s also important to note that not all apps use table views, so the colorization may not appear consistent from one app to another. This is to be expected, as ColorBorderTables will not colorize apps that lack table views.
