There’s no shortage of apps from the App Store that ask you to rate them, and while we understand that iOS app developers are eager to receive good reviews in the App Store, the nagging and persistent pop-ups can be somewhat annoying to the end user.
While it’s possible to turn off pop-ups requesting app ratings from Settings → App Store → In-App Ratings & Reviews, some app developers use their own methods to bombard the user that circumvent this setting, and it can be particularly annoying, which is why iOS developer Dayanch96 released a new and free jailbreak tweak called RateBeGone.
Dayanch96 announced the RateBeGone jailbreak tweak in a post shared to /r/jailbreak this weekend, and from what we can gather, it just might be an incredibly useful add-on.
Once installed, pop-ups asking the user to rate the current app should cease to happen, whether you’ve installed the app from the App Store and the developer circumvents the native setting, or you’ve sideloaded an app that plays by a different set of rules.
Another thing that the developer notes in the post is that the RateBeGone jailbreak tweak can be injected into apps on jailed handsets without a jailbreak, which means that modified sideloaded apps will also stop sharing pop-ups to rate the app in the App Store.
As an interesting niche that obviously annoys a certain subset of users, this is an excellent solution, and you may find it useful the next time you’re dealing with an annoying pop-up to rate an app.
Those interested in trying or learning more about RateBeGone can download it for free from the developer’s GitHub page, where it’s also open source. The tweak supports jailbroken iOS & iPadOS 15 devices.
