It’s a big day for a lot of Delta emulator app users, as the AltStore team took to X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday and officially announced Delta v1.7 beta 1 with support for Online Multiplayer for those games that you emulate on your iPhone or iPad through the app.
According to the announcement, Delta v1.7 beta 1 is available to all Patrons, and allows gamers to do things such as trade Pokémon, race against one another in Mario Kart, and visit each other’s Animal Crossing islands, among other things.
As you might come to expect, the online multiplayer doesn’t work through official servers, which means you can’t play against official console players. In Nintendo-based games, Online Multiplayer goes through community-hosted WFC servers, so you can use online features in any Nintendo DS games that support them.
It’s worth noting that online Multiplayer is only for Nintendo DS games at this time.
Full details on how Online Multiplayer works in the Delta emulator app are available on Delta’s Online web page, where a step-by-step guide to set up a connection can be found.
Delta v1.7 beta 1 doesn’t just bring Online Multiplayer to the table, but it also brings the following changes:
Nintendo 64
– New OpenGL ES 3 renderer fixes many common graphical issues
– Optionally switch back to OpenGL ES 2 via Experimental features
– Custom resolutions
– Custom texture packsImproved
– Adds dark + tinted variants of primary app icon
Fixed
– Fixed misleading “file does not exist” Delta Sync error
– Fix quitting all games when using multiple scenes on iPad
While this update containing Online Multiplayer isn’t yet available in the App Store, we expect that it will come at some point when the AltStore team considers the project to be out of beta and ready for more users to take on.
