Weekly jailbreak news roundup.

In this roundup piece, we’ll be discussing the latest releases and news tidbits in a lightweight format intended to help ensure you haven’t missed anything important. First, we’ll outline the most important pieces, followed by a list of updates and other releases.

Without further ado, let’s get started.

Important stuff from this week

Apex iOS 14 jailbreak teased

Apex jailbreak Sileo package manager.

Security researcher and iOS developer @alfiecg_dev teased an iOS 14 jailbreak for arm64 devices with persistence after a reboot called Apex that appears to be based on the Vertex kernel exploit.

While the developer doesn’t have any arm64e devices at this moment to test the jailbreak on, they hope that could soon change so they can try adding support for them.

You can learn more about Apex in our full news post.

SparseRestore bypasses SideStore 3-app limit & ports iPadOS features to iPhone

iPhone hacked matrix.

The SideStore sideloading application allows users to sideload up to three apps at a time, but one developer has found a way to bypass the three app limit by utilizing the SparseRestore exploit – the same exploit that made it possible to install TrollStore on iOS & iPadOS 17.0.

You can learn more about this feat in our full news post.

Likewise, the same developer has used the same methods to port several iPadOS features to the iPhone by modifying MobileGestalt.

You can learn more about the latter thing in our full news post.

iOS 18.0 unsigned

iOS 18 downgrade.

Apple on Thursday stopped signing iOS & iPadOS 18.0 one week after releasing the newer iOS & iPadOS 18.0.1 to the public.

This change prevents users from downgrading to the older firmware, which we think is ludicrous. But then again, Apple wants to control what firmware its users are running, so we don’t expect anything different.

You can learn more about this change in our full news post.

Sileo updates

Sileo v2.5.1 released.

The Sileo package manager app for jailbroken devices received important updates this past week, and most users would benefit from upgrading.

You can learn more about the latest Sileo updates below:

Single VPN

Single VPN preference pane.

Have you ever wished that there was a way to know you were connected to a VPN on your iPhone without a huge honking VPN icon appearing in your Status Bar? If so, then Single VPN is for you.

This jailbreak tweak combines the Status Bar’s Wi-Fi and VPN indicators into a single icon, changing its color based on your VPN connectivity status.

You can learn more about Single VPN in our full review post.

Single Mute

Single Mute preference pane.

The new Single Mute jailbreak tweak ports the coveted Status Bar-based silent mode icon from the iPhone 15 series and later to older handsets that don’t have an Action Button.

With it, you can easily discern your ringer/silent mode status without checking your ringer/silent switch.

FlashlightSettings

We like using our iPhones as flashlights, as no doubt, many of you do.

But what if you could do more with your flashlight or have more control over your iPhone while the flashlight was active than the ordinary iPhone user? That’s the idea behind the FlashlightSettings jailbreak tweak.

You can learn more about FlashlightSettings and what you can do with it in our full review post.
