Sileo updated to v2.5.1 to support Apex & add updated onboarding library

Sileo, which is now effectively the dominant package manager app used by the masses for installing and managing tweaks and add-ons on jailbroken devices, received a minor update this week that brought the app up to version 2.5.1.

Sileo v2.5.1 released.

Sileo version 2.5.1 supersedes version 2.5, and according to the change log published on the project’s GitHub page, this update introduces the following changes:

  • Add new jailbreaks, Apex and Amethyst
  • Update onboarding library

As we shared in a previous news article, security researcher and iOS developer @alfiecg_dev is working on an iOS 14-based jailbreak for arm64 devices that features persistence, and he’s calling it Apex.

The latest Sileo update adds initial support for the aforementioned jailbreak, which is why we see the Apex name at the bottom of the Sileo app in one of @alfiecg_dev’s screenshot teasers.

If you’re already using the Sileo package manager app, then you can easily install the latest version of the app by opening Sileo on your existing jailbroken device and refreshing your sources.

If you don’t see the update initially, then you may need to manually add the GetSileo repository to your package manager app. The URL for that repository is as follows:

https://repo.getsileo.app/

Sileo is open source on the development team’s GitHub page for anyone interested in learning more about how it works.
