Anyone who uses the popular Delta game emulator app for the iPhone or iPad platforms knows just how top-notch the platform is with respect to emulating vintage game console experiences. But things are about to get a lot better.
In an announcement post shared to X (formerly Twitter) this week, the AltStore team said that an update to Delta was coming soon that would bring official multiplayer support to games running in the Delta emulator app.
The post included a demo video showcasing the Mario Kart game on a Nintendo DS emulator with two players competing on a racetrack — precisely the kind of gameplay that players have long requested.
This long-anticipated feature would allow Delta users to play emulated games with other Delta users, either ad-hoc or from afar. For example, imagine being able to play Mario Kart with your friends instead of all by your lonesome.
There isn’t yet a concrete date or time for when this update will launch, but given the timing of the teaser, we predict that it could be any day now. We will keep our readers apprised when it launches.
Delta, once only available as a sideloadable app, launched in the App Store following no a policy change earlier this year. You can download it for free if you aren’t already using it.
