There are several different modes you can utilize in the Camera app for capturing photographs and recording videos, but people seldom use every single one, resulting in what feels like a bloated Camera app experience that some users may feel like paring down to a less-bloated state.

Enter CameraModes, a new and free jailbreak tweak by iOS developer PoomSmart that empowers iPhone and iPad owners to manually select which photograph capturing and video recording modes do and don’t appear in the Camera app.
As shown in the before (left) and after (right) screenshot examples above, CameraModes can hide certain modes from the Camera app so that only your favorite and most-used options appear. This makes it less tricky to find what you’re looking for in a pinch by reducing the number of items you flick through to find it.
Once installed, CameraModes adds a dedicated preference pane to the Settings app where you can configure which photograph capturing and video recording options appear or don’t appear in your Camera app:
Here, you can simply toggle the tweak on or off on demand, reset the tweak to its default settings, and move the following modes in or out of the Camera interface by moving them between the Enabled Modes and Disables Modes sections:
- Time-Lapse
- Slo-Mo
- Cinematic
- Video
- Photo
- Portrait
- Square
- Pano
If you’re interested in thinning out the number of photograph capturing and video recording modes in your Camera app in order to simplify the app’s user experience, then you can snag the new CameraModes jailbreak tweak for free from PoomSmart’s personal repository via your favorite package manager app. The tweak supports rootless jailbreaks and was tested on an iOS 16 device with the Dopamine jailbreak for this post.
Not using PoomSmart’s repository yet? No problem. You can add it to your package manager app by using the URL provided below:
