Nugget utility updated to version 2.1.1 with new features and fixes

Nugget, a SparseRestore exploit-based backup hack utility for iPhones and iPads running iOS & iPadOS 17.0-18.0 RC by iOS developer LeminLimez, has added a couple of updates post-Apple event that bring the utility up to version 2.1.1.

Nugget v2.1 and v2.1.1 announced by LeminLimez.

LeminLimez announced the latest updates in announcements shared via the Cowabunga Discord channel late Monday night, and from what we can gather, the following updates introduce the following changes:

Nugget v2.1

  • Adds iPhone 16 settings
  • Adds Always-on Display Vibrancy option
  • Fix mobile gestalt tweaks not working on iOS 18.0 RC and 17.7 RC
  • Fixed Command Line Interface crashing when applying tweaks

Nugget v2.1.1

  • Adds button to reset mobile gestalt

As you’ve probably already inferred, Nugget lets iPhone and iPad users customize their device without a jailbreak, using the SparseRestore exploit to apply jailbreak tweak-like hacks.

These hacks can be buggy, and so it’s advised to use them with caution and preferably on a non-primary device. Backing up your important data is necessary in case of issues that may arise from bugs.

As for the SparseRestore exploit that Nugget uses, this is the same exploit used by the TrollRestore utility to install TrollStore on newer firmware, up to and including iOS & iPadOS 17.0.

While Nugget was originally hosted on the developer’s GitHub page, that is not the case at the moment as the GitHub was taken down for unexplained reasons. LeminLimez continues to ask GitHuh for help, and maintains software distribution via the Cowabunga Discord channel at this time.
