Just last week, we told you about the SparseRestore-based Nugget iPhone & iPad customization tool that works on iOS & iPadOS 17.0 and later. Nugget uses the same exploit that the TrollRestore utility uses to install TrollStore, but instead of installing TrollStore, you could use it to make jailbreak tweak-like modifications on non-jailbreakable firmware.
Originally, Nugget was a command line-based utility, which meant you needed to know how to operate Terminal and know what commands to use to make the modifications you wanted. But as of this weekend, project lead developer LeminLimez released Nugget v2.0 with a graphical user interface (GUI) that’s more approachable by end users.
Citing LeminLimez’s announcement in the Cowabunga Discord server late Saturday evening, Nugget v2.0 is more than just a GUI; it’s a feature-packed update that adds more features for iPhone and iPad owners who want to modify their device outside of Apple’s stock parameters.
The full change log for version 2.0 can be found below:
– Nugget finally has a GUI!
– Added iPhone X gestures for iPhone SEs
– Added Set as Apple Internal Install (i.e. Metal HUD in any app)
– Added Enabling Collision SOS
– Added Allowing iPad apps on iPhone
– Added the ability to apply over Wi-Fi
– The mobilegestalt file check can now be overridden
– A mobilegestalt file is no longer required to apply non-gestalt tweaks
– The region code can now be manually inputted for EU Enabler
– Various other fixes and stability improvements
This update comes after version 1.6 launched on Friday, adding support for the EU Enabler tweak that enables the ability to install European Union-only alternative App Stores such as AltStore PAL and Epic Games Store in regions where this isn’t supported, such as in the United States. That said, it’s unsurprising to see that version 2.0 continues to improve on this feature with the ability to manually enter the region code.
Around 20 minutes after releasing Nugget version 2.0, LeminLimez also released a small update in the form of version 2.0.1 with a fix for an issue where a message telling users to disable Find My wouldn’t appear. It’s important to disable Find My during the process of making modifications with Nugget, as it otherwise prevents the use of the SparseRestore exploit – the backup-based method of making modifications on this firmware.
If you’re already a Nugget user, then you can head over to the Cowabunga Discord server’s ‘downloads’ section to acquire the latest version of Nugget with the GUI and new features. While Nugget was originally hosted on LeminLimez’s GitHub page, their account was recently suspended with no explanation from GitHub. The developer is still trying to get their account back.
