MisakaX, the latest project by former Misaka project developer @straight_tamago and a SparseRestore exploit-based device customization tool for iPhones and iPads running iOS & iPadOS 16.0 and later, received even more important updates this past week with new features and improvements.
In a post shared to X on Saturday, @straight_tamago shared a link to MisakaX’s GitHub project page for the new version 1.6 release, which appears to incorporate the following changes:
– Added TrollStore Installer
– Added iPad apps (@khanhduytran0)
– UI improvements
– Added option to turn off Feature Flags
– Added Dynamic Island 2556 options
– iOS 16 support
– Skipped Setup Screen
– macOS versions no longer have dependencies. No need for Python anymore
– Update Check
As it would appear, this is a big update for MisakaX because it not only adds support for iOS & iPadOS 16, but it adds new features to the existing feature list, including the ability to install TrollStore using the SparseRestore exploit, the option to use iPad apps, and the removal of Python for a dependency for macOS, among other things.
Version 1.7 of MisakaX was also released a few hours later with support for adding developer mode and metal HUD features.
The two biggest players in this space right now are MisakaX and Nugget, each of which appear to do different things using the same exploit. While MisakaX had the graphical user interface first, it’s worth noting that as of version 2.0, Nugget too has a graphical user interface. This makes both utilities equally as approachable by end users who aren’t familiar with command lines.
Another important warning worth throwing out there is that because these tools use backups to modify your device, it’s highly recommended that you back up your iPhone or iPad through iTunes or Finder before using them. This way, should something go catastrophically wrong, you can at least restore your device and get all your data back.
If you’re interested in giving the latest version of MisakaX a try, then you can acquire it from the project’s GitHub page. It’s available for both macOS and Windows.
