Jailbreaking iPhones and installing jailbreak tweaks is your job. Sharing the latest news and releases with you is ours.
We do this week in and week out for all the hardcore device modders out there, but stuff moves fast when it happens. That’s why we recap everything every Sunday in pieces like this.
In today’s roundup, the iDB team goes over everything jailbreak-related that we shared with you throughout the last week, spanning Monday, September 2nd to Sunday, September 8th.
Important stuff from this week
TrollRestore – TrollStore install method for iOS 17.0
The long-awaited TrollStore installation method for iOS & iPadOS 17.0 is now here, and it’s being called TrollRestore.
TrollRestore supports iOS & iPadOS 15.0-16.7 RC (20H18) and 17.0 and sports a 100% success rate. It’s very easy to use and can be used on computers running macOS, Windows, and Linux.
You can learn more about TrollRestore in our full news post.
TrollStore Lite Released
TrollStore Lite, the jailbroken device version of TrollStore that can install apps either as User or as System, was officially released on Monday alongside the release of TrollStore version 2.1.
TrollStore Lite can use AppSync to install .ipa and .tipa files, but it isn’t required. It’s especially useful on iOS & iPadOS 17.0.1+ devices that don’t have a CoreTrust exploit, but may have a jailbreak by way of palera1n and want a way to install apps in a similar fashion.
You can learn more about TrollStore Lite in our full news post, and you can also learn how to install it via our step-by-step tutorial.
Xinam1ne
Xinam1ne is a fork of the Dopamine jailbreak for iOS & iPadOS 15.0-16.5.1 that supports both rootless and rootful jailbreak tweaks and package manager apps.
It supports the same firmware and device combinations as Dopamine, but because of XinaA15-like symlinks, users can run more jailbreak tweaks and add-ons that aren’t typically compatible with the Dopamine rootless jailbreak.
You can learn more about Xinam1ne in our full news post.
RootHide Bootstrap Updates
The RootHide Procursus-based bootstrap received important updates this past week, just in time for the new TrollStore installation method for iOS & iPadOS 17.0.
You can learn about the latest updates to the RootHide Procursus-based bootstrap below:
Zeppelin Reborn
A longtime favorite jailbreak tweak in the community since at least 2012 was Zeppelin, an add-on that could permit users to change their Status Bar’s aesthetics by adding an icon of their choosing.
Zeppelin Reborn is a modern remake of this popular add-on for rootless jailbreaks on iOS & iPadOS 15 and 16.
You can learn more about Zeppelin Reborn in our full review post.
Nugget
Nugget is a command line-based tool that allows iPhone and iPad owners on iOS 17.0 and later to make device customizations on their device via backups.
The tool uses the same SparseRestore exploit that the TrollRestore utility harnesses, and doesn’t require jailbreaking. Best of all, it’s fully open source.
You can learn more about Nugget in our full review post.
Nugget was also updated to version 2.0 this weekend with support for a full-blown GUI.
MisakaX
MisakaX is a new backup-based iPhone and iPad customization system that supports iOS 17.0-18.0 beta 8/18.1 beta 3.
It works without jailbreaking and allows users to check certain boxes to customize their handset’s behavior using the SparseRestore exploit that TrollRestore uses.
You can learn more about MisakaX and how it works in our full review post.
Also be sure to check out the latest updates below:
EUEnabler
Have you ever wanted to try the EU-based App Store alternatives elsewhere around the world, but couldn’t because Apple wouldn’t let you? Try EUEnabler.
With this SparseRestore-based hack, you may be able to enable the ability to install AltStore PAL or Epic Games Store in the United States and in other unsupported countries. No jailbreak required.
You can learn more about EUEnabler in our full review post.
Upcoming Griddy tweak
Griddy is an upcoming jailbreak tweak that will let iOS & iPadOS 15 and 16 users organize their Home Screen’s app icons outside of the automatic snapping parameters that we all tend to deal with.
Put your app icons essentially wherever you want and gain a more pleasurable view of your wallpaper, widgets, or any other details you want to see more of.
We will cover this when it’s officially released, but in the meantime, check out the teaser.
