Just over a week ago, we teased an AppSync-based TrollStore Lite for jailbroken devices that developer Lars Fröder (@opa334dev) said would be coming soon with a plethora of benefits over using the traditional TrollStore perma-signing utility. As of today, the day has finally come for such a project to be released.

In an announcement post shared via the X social media platform (formerly Twitter), Fröder said that TrollStore Lite was now officially available via the Havoc repository for jailbroken devices and that the original TrollStore perma-signing utility had been updated to version 2.1 to add support for TrollStore Lite, among other things.
The full change log for TrollStore version 2.1 is as follows:
– Introduce TrollStore Lite (https://havoc.app/package/trollstorelite) for jailbroken iOS versions
– Add support for transferring installed apps between TrollStore and TrollStore Lite (So people using TrollStore for versions it was never intended for can switch to TrollStore Lite seamlessly)
– Add ‘Refresh App Registrations’ option inside TrollStore settings
As you can probably tell, a lot of today’s TrollStore update has to do with implementing compatibility with the new TrollStore Lite utility for jailbroken devices, to include transferring installed apps between the two utilities on the fly.
TrollStore Lite, which is now officially available via the Havoc repository, can install apps as User instead of as System via the AppSync package. When unavailable, TrollStore Lite installs apps as System ad-hoc rather than using a CoreTrust exploit. This is purportedly a cleaner method.
Likewise, TrollStore Lite works as a front-end for installing .ipa files on devices that don’t have access to the CoreTrust exploit. For example, TrollStore Lite isn’t limited by CoreTrust compatibility and works on iOS & iPadOS 17.0.1. The CoreTrust exploit only works on iOS & iPadOS 14.0-16.6.1 and 17.0. This means you can use TrollStore Lite on iPadOS 17.0.1 and later when jailbroken via palera1n.
The description for TrollStore Lite in the Havoc repository notes the following details about how this utility works:
TrollStore Lite offers a TrollStore-like experience on jailbroken iOS. Unlike TrollStore it is not constrained to versions supported by a CoreTrust bug, it instead relies on the codesign bypass included in the jailbreak.
It is essentially just a frontend for installing .ipa files. When AppSync is not installed, the installed apps will be registered as System applications and the registrations can be refreshed through the TrollStore Lite app. When AppSync is installed, the installed apps will be registered as User applications and the registrations will persist automatically.
The regular CoreTrust bug-based TrollStore perma-signing utility that we all know and love will now have an option as of version 2.1 to transfer all installed apps to TrollStore Lite.
This button makes it easy to transfer installations from one utility to the other with just a tap. Users shouldn’t notice any different in app usability unless they boot out of a jailbroken state. If you have a TrollStore-compatible device, then you can continue to perma-sign apps via the CoreTrust bug while unjailbroken. Otherwise, you’ll need to boot jailbroken again to access .ipa files.
TrollStore Lite supports iOS & iPadOS version 14.0 and later. You must be jailbroken to take advantage of TrollStore Lite, and it’s available at no cost starting today from the Havoc repository.
TrollStore users can upgrade to the latest version of TrollStore via the in-app over-the-air updating mechanism, or they can visit the project’s GitHib page to download and install the latest version 2.1 update manually.
