AltStore PAL gets bug fixes & improvements in v2.1.2 update

AltStore PAL, the widely popular alternative App Store available to iPhone and iPad users in the European Union, received an update on Thursday bringing it up to version 2.1.2.

AltStore PAL v2.1.2 released.

Citing the announcement post shared via X by the AltStore team, AltStore PAL version 2.1.2 welcomes the following changes:

– Verifies downloaded app matches source
– Fixed installing apps before adding source
– Fixed tab bar disappearing on iOS 18
– Fixed incorrect progress when installing multiple apps

As you can probably tell from the change log, this is a minor update that improves the user experience by way of general bug fixes and improvements. Some of those changes even optimize the app for the forthcoming iOS & iPadOS 18 updates.

AltStore PAL, being an alternative to Apple’s App Store, allows developers to host their apps outside the purview of Apple’s controlling parameters. For this reason, Epic Games started hosting its popular mobile games, including Fortnite, in AltStore PAL earlier this month.

While AltStore PAL isn’t available outside of the EU, those elsewhere around the world can still resort to regular sideloading or using TrollStore to permanently-sign apps via a CoreTrust exploit. It remains to be seen if AltStore PAL or similar alternative App Stores will ever exist in the United States or elsewhere besides the EU.
