Dopamine & TrollStore developer Lars Fröder to present about iOS hacking at SAS24

Lars Fröder (@opa334dev), a security researcher with Cellebrite Labs who is perhaps best known for his work on the Dopamine jailbreak and the TrollStore perma-signing utility for the iPhone and iPad, has regularly given speeches and attending security research conventions throughout the year, including GeekCon and Zer0con.

Lars Fröder SAS24 scheduled speaker.

Now, it seems Fröder is scheduled to present yet another discussion at an upcoming event called the Security Analyst Summit (SAS24). This convention takes place in Bali, Indonesia and identifies itself as an “invitation-only conference” with members of a “close-knit community.” If it sounds exclusive, that’s because it is. Only the best of the best are generally invited to take part.

With Fröder having played such an instrumental role in the development of hacks and jailbreaks for modern iterations of iOS & iPadOS firmware, it’s no surprise to learn that he fits the bill. The event will last for three days from October 22nd to 25th, provide three fancy dinners, and allow some of the best minds in the space to share ideas with one another in the furtherance of security research.

According to a post shared to X by the @theSAScon account which manages the SAS24 convention, iOS & iPadOS hacking has been at the top of the event’s interest list, and as such, they’re happy to welcome such an experienced speaker into the agenda to talk at the event.

Fröder is expected to talk about the state of iOS & iPadOS hacking in 2024 and to share more about Apple’s anti-kernel exploitation provisions that have made jailbreaking so tough to accomplish as of late. Fröder will also discuss how workarounds can be made and the steps to use those in hacking these platforms. The discussion will be titled, “iOS Hacking in 2024 – An Overview.”

Given the fact that so many prestigious security researchers are welcomed to this event, the sharing of these ideas may help facilitate the spreading of ideas and information in furtherance of generating new interest in the iOS & iPadOS hacking space. And if it doesn’t, then at least some people will walk away more informed about the topic than the moment they sat in their chair to listen to Fröder speak.
