Lars Fröder (@opa443dev), the talented developer behind the Dopamine rootless jailbreak tool for iOS & iPadOS 15 and 16 devices, on Tuesday released a minor update for the tool dubbed version 2.2.1 as a follow-up to the version 2.2 update that dropped on Sunday.
According to a post shared by Fröder on X (formerly Twitter), Dopamine v2.2.1 brings no notable changes to the jailbreak, but it does put the default jetsam multiplier back at 3x because people weren’t paying attention to the change log in version 2.2 and it was causing issues for them.
The full change log for Dopamine v2.2.1, provided below, notes that most people should be using 2x, but it’s now up to the user to configure that on their own:
– Bump default jetsam multiplier back to 3x because apparently people don’t read change logs and that’s why we can’t have nice things (Most people should still be using 2x, but that’s on their own to figure out now…)
If you’re an existing Dopamine jailbreak user, then you will find an in-app update prompt to download and install the latest version the next time you open the Dopamine jailbreak app. That prompt and update process doesn’t require a computer, and looks something like this:
You can also opt to manually download and perma-sign the latest version of Dopamine over your existing installation with TrollStore, but why waste your effort?
New or prospective users can and should download the latest version of Dopamine when considering jailbreaking iOS or iPadOS 15 or 16 with it for the first time. That’s because the latest release has the best patches and configurations based on the opinion of its creator, so it should run the best when the latest release is used as opposed to an outdated release that has unresolved bugs.
For those wondering, the Dopamine jailbreak supports the following device and firmware combinations:
- iOS & iPadOS 15.0-16.6.1 on A8-A11 devices
- iOS & iPadOS 15.0-16.5.1 and 16.6 betas 1-4 on A12-A14 & M1 devices
- iOS & iPadOS 15.0-16.5 and 16.6 betas 1-4 on A15-A16 & M2 devices
To make use of Dopamine, you can follow the steps outlined in our step-by-step tutorial. This easy process generally involves downloading the tool’s .ipa or .tipa file from the GitHhub page and then opening it in TrollStore to perma-sign it. You can also sideload it with something like AltStore or Sideloadly if you want, but TrollStore is a computerless method that stays signed indefinitely, making it the ideal way to go.
