Important stuff from this week
palera1n gets iPadOS 17.6+, iPadOS 18, & tvOS 15.0-18.x support
The palera1n jailbreak tool, which works by utilizing the checkm8 hardware-based bootrom exploit, has been updated this past week with initial support for iPadOS 17.6+, iPadOS 18, and tvOS 15.0-18.x, among other things.
While much of this newfangled support is preliminary, it’s worth noting that the only iPadOS 18 device palera1n supports is the iPad (7th generation) since it is the last checkm8-vulnerable device to support iPadOS 18.
You can learn more about this newfangled support and all the caveats in our full news post.
PreferenceLoader for iPadOS 18
Thanks to iOS developer @dhinakg, we now have a version of PreferenceLoader that successfully shows jailbreak tweak settings in the Swift-based Settings app in iOS & iPadOS 18.
The updated build comes just in time after the palera1n team released an updated jailbreak with support for iPadOS 18 on the iPad (7th generation).
You can learn more about this in our full news post about the topic.
ApolloPatcher works again
The Apollo Reddit client once again stopped working for those who were using hacks to keep it alive because Reddit began blocking the Apollo user agent.
Fortunately, clever iOS developer ichitaso has updated ApolloPatcher to randomize the Apollo app’s user agent, effectively letting it work again.
You can learn more about this in our full news post.
PurePKG updates
The PurePKG package manager app for jailbroken devices received updates this past week to improve the user experience. Learn more about those below:
TrueFocus
TrueFocus is a new jailbreak tweak that can eliminate notification-centric distractions and restrict your access to distracting apps during times when you need to remain productive.
This allows you to get things done without having your attention yanked elsewhere, and can make a huge difference in the amount of things you get done in an given timeframe.
You can learn more about TrueFocus in our full review post.
TouchVis
TouchVis is a new jailbreak tweak that visualizes every tap you perform on your jailbroken iPhone’s screen.
You can configure how those taps look and when they occur, whether you prefer them only during screen recordings, or at all times.
You can learn more about TouchVis in our full review post.
TrollFools
TrollFools is an interesting utility for TrollStore users that allows for on-device injecting of tweaks into apps without the need for a computer.
This means that you can modify the behavior of apps with or without a jailbreak, all of the device itself.
You can learn more about TrollFools and how it works and where you can get it from in our full review post.
YouChooseQuality
YouChooseQuality is a standalone jailbreak tweak that lets users select a preferred video quality that will apply to all YouTube app playback.
This means that you will no longer have the YouTube app automatically choosing video quality based on your internet connection, but rather it will play in the quality you prefer.
You can learn more about YouChooseQuality in our full review post.
