Mountain town landscape iPhone wallpaper

There is something picturesque about a town planted in a location that doesn’t seem possible. They depict a contrast of nature’s beauty and the rigid man-made designs of structure. This dichotomy makes for intriguing scenery, which is captured in this week’s wallpaper pack of mountain town landscape wallpapers.

Wallpapers in this collection bring me back to imagery I find similar to worlds built in the Lord of the Rings trilogy movies from the early aughts. Vast spanning landscapes that have somehow been populated by villages, towns, or even full cities of people. For centuries humans have been cultivating the land and forging locations to live in some of the most remote locations.

In the following collection of mountain town wallpapers, cliff side towns are depicted in several locations. A lush, green valley setting is a picturesque location. In contrast, a stone town built into rock face with a soft waterfall reminds me the most of LOTR’s Minas Tirith. Finally, a small medieval town set next to the ocean with a volcano erupting under a star laden sky, takes the concept to an even more fantastic setting.

My favorite of the collection is pictured first. This sunset shines down a valley to a small mountain village set amongst the vegetation, gives a depth of field that highlights a cobblestone entrance winding deep into jungle setting.
