palera1n teases jailbreak on iPad 7 running iPadOS 18

iPadOS 18 jailbreak on iPad 7.

The palera1n team this past week shared a screenshot of a successfully jailbroken iPad 7 running iPadOS 18, suggesting that work is coming along smoothly.

This is currently the only device on iOS or iPadOS 18 that stands of chance of being jailbreakable in the near-term due to all the security improvements on newer devices, but this should help developers prepare their tweaks and dependencies for Apple’s latest firmware.

You can learn all about this in our full news post.

SideStore

SideStore header image.

SideStore is an open-source alternative to the AltStore sideloading utility that doesn’t require AltServer. As a result, while you need a computer to set it up for the first time, you don’t need a computer for subsequent uses.

SideStore aims to be a truly untethered sideloading experience, and it automatically re-signs apps using your Apple ID and a unique VPN.

You can learn more about SideStore in our full review post.

AltServer Pi

A Raspberry Pi 4 board.

Have you ever wanted to use your Raspberry Pi 4 as an AltServer for refreshing your AltStore-based sideloaded apps on your iPhone or iPad? Then look no further than a project called AltServer Pi.

This fork of AltStore features reliable Wi-Fi connectivity, which is apparently a shortcoming of many Linux-based builds.

You can learn more about AltServer Pi, including where to get it from, in our full news post.

LeminLimez house fire

LeminLimez shares the news that their house caught on fire.

iOS developer LeminLimez suffered from a catastrophic house fire this past week, resulting in the collapse of their home and the loss of their worldly possessions.

While this does mean that the developer’s projects are on indefinite hold for the foreseeable future, there is a way you can help. The developer’s Ko-fi page is accepting donations that can help the developer get back on their feet.

You can learn more about the circumstances in our full news post.

The tweak works with all apps and supports not only jailbroken devices, but also bootstrapped devices or devices that use Serotonin.

ShowMyTouches

ShowMyTouches is a new jailbreak tweak that feeds into my nostalgia a little, and it does this by making your screen display where you touch it, similarly to how a popular screen recording app from the early days of jailbreaking always did.

You can configure ShowMyTouches to display your taps whether you’re recording your screen or not. The tweak also works not only with jailbroken devices, but with bootstrapped devices as well.

You can learn more about ShowMyTouches in our full review post.

JumpSkipReborn

JumpSkipReborn breathes new life into a popular jailbreak tweak first released five years ago that lets users control their media playback with their volume buttons.

More than just changing the volume level, users can use a combination of gestures to fast-forward, rewind, move to the next track, or move to the previous track, among other things.

You can learn more about JumpSkipReborn and the things you can do with it in our full review post.
