Dopamine v2.1.7 released with more stability and user experience improvements

It was only earlier today that Dopamine jailbreak lead developer Lars Fröder (@opa334dev) released version 2.1.6 of the rootless iOS & iPadOS 15 and 16 jailbreak tool. But as it would seem, Fröder saw it necessary to further improve Dopamine before hanging his hat for the day.

Dopamine v2.1.7 announced.

Taking to a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) later Wednesday afternoon, Fröder posted about the release of Dopamine v2.1.7, which isn’t quite as large of an update as version 2.1.6 was, but is still important nevertheless.

Citing the change log, Dopamine v2.1.7 introduces the following changes:

– Remove libkrw0 dependency of libkrw plug-in, should fix rejailbreaking when libkrw0 has been uninstalled
– Improve verbose logging, also log stderr to it

If you’re already a Dopamine jailbreak user, then updating is easy. All you need to do is open the Dopamine jailbreak app while you have an internet connection and you’ll be prompted about the update in the app and guided through the process to upgrade in just a few taps:

Your device will simply need a userspace reboot after following the in-app over-the-air update process in order to fully update the jailbreak environment.

Non-existing users, or those who want to jailbreak for the first time using Dopamine, are going to want to download version 2.1.7 right from the start to ensure that they’re taking advantage of the latest bug fixes and improvements before setting up their jailbreak.

The latest version of Dopamine, for those who haven’t used it yet, is available from the project’s GitHub page. Installing it is a particularly simple process that involves making use of the TrollStore perma-signing utility, and we’ve devised a step-by-step tutorial that helps you through the process if you’re unsure about where to begin.

The Dopamine jailbreak supports the following firmware and device combinations, so make sure you have a compatible device before getting started:

  • iOS & iPadOS 15.0-16.6.1 on A8-A11 devices
  • iOS & iPadOS 15.0-16.5.1 and 16.6 betas 1-4 on A12-A14 & M1 devices
  • iOS & iPadOS 15.0-16.5 and 16.6 betas 1-4 on A15-A16 & M2 devices
