Jailbreak news of the week: Don’t install unofficial ElleKit builds, iPad Pro displaying tvOS, & more…

The iDB team passionately covers iPhone hacking and jailbreaking news as it happens throughout the week. But for those who can’t follow along in real time, we offer a weekly weekend roundup that compiles everything into a largely summarized post.

Weekly jailbreak news roundup.

In this roundup, we showcase all the latest jailbreaking and jailbreak tweak news spanning the week of Monday, June 3rd to Sunday, June 9th. We’ll begin with some important stuff, and then outline everything else toward the end.

Important stuff from this week

Modder gets tvOS to work with iPadOS

Sigmund Judge, a co-host of the Magic Rays of Light Podcast, recently showed off how he modified an Apple TV 4K (3rd generation) so that it could be powered by an 11-inch iPad Pro, which also took the HDMI output of the same Apple TV to display its picture on-device.

This was a really interesting mod that didn’t require any jailbreaking, but it did require a little bit of tech surgery to install a special board in the Apple TV 4K, as well as some additional hardware to bypass HDCP and to get the video to display on the iPad Pro via USB Video Class.

You can learn more about the project in our full news post.

PurePKG updates

The PurePKG package manager app alternative to current options such as Sileo and Zebra received updates this past week that improve the app and its user experience.

Procursus package updates cause issues for some Dopamine users

On Tuesday, the Procursus Team released updates to several of its dependency jailbreak packages that interact with the jailbreak bootstrap. Unfortunately, those updates didn’t bode well for all jailbreakers.

In a public comment, Dopamine lead developer Lars Fröder (@opa334dev) said that the Procursus updates weren’t to blame, but rather Dopamine. Some iOS 15 users would have found themselves using the iOS 16 bootstrap, which would have interacted poorly with these updates.

There’s an easy fix, and you can learn more about that in our full news post.

Verxina

Verxina controls.

The Dock is a beloved part of the iPhone’s Home Screen, but it hasn’t changed much over the years and some users demand more out of it.

Enter Verxina, a new all-encompassing control panel that you can access by swiping up on the Home Screen’s Dock.

You can learn more about Verxina and the different things you can do with it in our full review post.

Dynamic120hz

Dynamic120hz indicators showing display refresh rate speeds.

The Dynamic120hz jailbreak tweak allows the end user to experience a better refresh rate experience on ProMotion display-equipped iPhones that can be jailbroken.

The tweak not only offers per-app configurability, but it can also show you when the display’s refresh rate is enhanced with a privacy-style indicator that you can customization in and of itself.

You can learn more about Dynamic120hz in our full review post.
