PurePKG updated to v1.6 with iOS 13 support, bug fixes & improvements

PurePKG, the newest package manager app for jailbroken iPhones and iPads that first launched at the start of the year, has been updated again this week, this time to version 1.6.

PurePKG v1.6 released.

In an announcement post shared to X (formerly Twitter) by project lead developer @Lrdsnow101, we learn that PurePKG v1.6 introduces the following changes over the previous version:

Existing PurePKG users can easily upgrade to the newest release either by opening PurePKG or another of their package manager apps and refreshing their sources. The update should appear as an available upgrade, and the package manager should make quick work of upgrading.

Anyone who isn’t already using PurePKG, and who would like to give it a try for the unique aesthetics that it brings to the table, can do so by adding the project’s official repository to their existing package manager app. That repository is as follows:

According to the PurePKG GitHub page, PurePKG is aimed at providing a more customizable package manager app experience to jailbreakers. The developer says that the project likely has a lot of bugs at the moment, as it’s still in its early stages of development. On the other hand, it has come a long way since its initial release.

PurePKG is compatible with jailbroken devices running iOS or iPadOS 13 or later, and it can also be used with RootHide Bootstrap.

We should note that PurePKG is made by the same developer who brought us PureKFD, a package manager for non-jailbroken and KFD exploit-vulnerable devices. This is an important distinction to make, as PurePKG cannot be used on non-jailbroken devices.
