OH a potato, Timelapse, Trip Tunes, and other apps to check out this weekend

Guess what’s back? Back again. The weekend’s back. Tell a friend. This means it’s time for another edition of our Apps of the Week roundup. This week we have a powerful meal planning app, a feature-packed time-lapse app, and an app for making the perfect road trip playlist. And as always, we’ve selected an awesome game for you to check out.

OH, a potato! – Menu Planner

Here is an interesting app with a fun name and a colorful user interface. It’s called OH a potato, and it’s essentially a pantry manager, a recipe manager, a grocery list-maker and meal planner all wrapped into one. If you’ve always wanted to cook more, but could never get into the habit of doing things like meal planning or prepping, or buying the right groceries, OHAP certainly seems worth checking out.

Timelapse – Capture/Editing

I wonder how long it took them to come up with the name for this one. Timelapse is an app that, well, makes it easy to shoot time-lapse videos. It’s absolutely loaded with features like interval shooting with multiple cameras, support for all iPhone lenses and major formats (JPEG/HEIC/RAW etc), manual focus and exposure settings, pixel intensity histogram, and more. Pair it with one of our picks for best iPhone tripod for the ultimate time-lapse photo session.

Trip Tunes: Roadtrip Playlists

Ok, this might be the coolest app I’ve seen in a while. It’s called Trip Tunes, and it promises to make the perfect mixtapes for your road trips. Seriously. You just enter in some quick details about your trip and personal music tastes, and the app will expertly curate a playlist that explores the local music scene and matches the vibe of your trip. It works in conjunction with Apple Music, and you get a few “blank tapes” for free, to start you off. Now tell me that doesn’t sound cool.

Sutāto

If you’re late to the emulator party, or are just looking for more options, Sutāto is here to help. It’s an emulator that has been crafted specifically for playing and downloading NES and Gameboy games on your iOS device, and thanks to Apple’s recent rule-change, it’s available in the App Store. The default button tap targets are a little small, so you might consider one of our picks for best bluetooth controller, but otherwise it’s solid. It does, however, cost $2, and of course you have to provide your own games.
