Zetsu multitasking jailbreak tweak adds support for iPad-style Split View app usage on iPhones in v1.6 update

A couple of years ago, we showed you a free jailbreak tweak called Zetsu by iOS developer Dcsyhi that brought desktop-class windowed multitasking features to jailbroken iPhones. Since then, several new features have been added to Zetsu, highlighting its popularity.

You can now use Zetsu to run two iPhone apps side-by-side on your iPhone, just like you can on an iPad.

More recently, Zetsu picked up an update to version 1.6, which added several highly requested features. Perhaps the most significant of them all is the addition of support for native iPad-style Split View multitasking, which lets you run dual apps side-by-side on the same screen.

While there was already a free jailbreak tweak called SplitViewEverywhere that enabled iPad-style Split View multitasking on iPhones, Zetsu is a much more capable jailbreak tweak in that it offers a lot more functionality while still remaining free to use. That said, it’s sort of a no-brainer.

We should also add that Zetsu v1.6 brings the following improvements, in addition to Split View-style side-by-side multitasking:

  • The ability to use the Camera app in the background
  • Show or hide windows for each app from the Zetsu module in Control Center
  • Optimized rotation of the Zetsu window
  • Ability to configure settings on a per-app basis

In adding these features, we feel that Zetsu, which was already a substantial upgrade over the iPhone’s native multitasking, has merely ascended to a new level of amazement. Given that this tweak is free to use and upgrades the multitasking experience in so many ways, it’s hard not to recommend.

In fact, when it comes to the native App Switcher, which merely lets you switch from one recently used app to another with no real form of “multitasking” integrated whatsoever, it would be easy to recommend just about anything else.

If you’re interested in trying the latest version of the Zetsu jailbreak tweak, then you can download it for free from the Chariz repository. The tweak supports jailbroken iOS 15 and 16 devices.
