Lars Fröder and Boris Larin meet at GeekCon 2024 as Fröder publishes presentation slides to GitHub

Dopamine jailbreak lead developer Lars Fröder (@opa334dev) arrived in Singapore on Thursday, May 23rd to participate in GeekCon 2024 International, which hosts a crowd of some of the most prominent hackers and security experts in the world.

Dopamine jailbreak developer Lars Fröder publishes presentation slides to GitHub.

While there, Fröder gave a presentation called “Defeating Code Signing on iOS 16 using a PPL bypass,” and for anyone who couldn’t attend or watch the presentation, Fröder has published the slides of his presentation on his GitHub page as a PDF file for anyone to download and review on their free time.

According to the subtitles, this presentation offers a unique glimpse into the code signing bypass technique that Fröder used when creating the Dopamine v2 jailbreak, and so it could be a good read for anyone who might be interested in learning more about how jailbreaking modern iOS & iPadOS firmware works.

In addition to that, Fröder also uploaded slides from his Zer0Con 2024 presentation entitled “How to Jailbreak iOS 16 – A technical deep dive into the Dopamine jailbreak.”

The GeekCon event took place from Saturday, May 25th to Sunday, May 26th, but for Fröder, the fun didn’t stop there. He also had a unique opportunity to meet with Boris Larin (@oct0xor), a prominent security researcher from the Kaspersky GReAT team that took the stage last December at the 37c3 conference to announce Operation Triangulation.

For those unaware, Operation Triangulation was a talk about how security researchers with Kaspersky GReAT had noticed unusual traffic from their devices, and upon effectively trapping the data being sent from their devices without alarming the monitoring party, they had discovered what was thought to be a KTRR bypass, but actually turned out to be a PPL bypass that made the Dopamine v2 jailbreak possible.

As it turns out, Fröder and Larin have been having a great time together. Larin took to X (formerly Twitter) early Monday morning to share a selfie photo of himself and Fröder with some pleasant Singapore scenery in the background:

It’s not only great to see that Fröder is publishing valuable information to serve as a resource to the community, but it’s also wonderful to see him forging healthy friendships with other prominent figures. The sharing an exchanging of information and resources between two great minds like these can be a fruitful endeavor.
