One of my longtime favorite jailbreak tweaks, a beautiful audio visualizer for the Now Playing interface on jailbroken iPhones and iPads, has been reimagined for the latest rootless jailbreaks by iOS developer Ryan Nair in the form of a new release called Mitsuha 6.
With Mitusha 6, whenever you’re playing music, your Now Playing interface displays a waveform animation that closely resembles the sound of whatever it is you’re listening to, and it’s simply fantastic. An example of the animation appears for your viewing pleasure below:
The animation is subtle, yet pleasant, and it joins you for your music listening journey whether you’re on the Lock Screen, Home Screen, Spotify app, or Apple Music app, among other interfaces.
Once installed, Mitsuha 6 adds a dedicated preference pane to the Settings app where you can configure a variety of options to your liking:
Among the things you can do here are:
- Configure Mitsuha 6 animations on the Lock Screen’s background
- Configure Mitsuha 6 animations on the Home Screen
- Configure Mitsuha 6 animations in the Spotify app’s Now Playing interface
- Configure Mitsuha 6 animations for Lock Screen notifications
- Configure Mitsuha 6 animations for the Apple Music app’s Now Playing interface
- Respring your device to save any changes you’ve made
- Restart mediaserverd if things aren’t working correctly
- Restore Mitsuha 6’s settings to their defaults and respring to save those changes
Peering deeper into the settings, the options for the Lock Screen background, Home Screen, Spotify, Lock Screen notifications, and Apple Music are entirely the same and consist of the following options:
Things you can change here are:
- Enable or disable animations for the selected interface
- Adjust the FFT (frequency analysis)
- Choose between wave, bar, line, dot, and Siri-esque animation styles
- Configure the amount of points via a slider
- Choose between dynamic, Siri, or custom colors
- Adjust the alpha level via a slider
- Configure the top wave offset via a slider
- Configure the visualizer speed in frames per second via a slider
- Configure the sensitivity via a slider
- Configure the gain via a slider
- Configure the limiter via a slider
- Keep the server always active
- And more…
This release is the first official build for rootless jailbreaks running on iOS & iPadOS 15, 16, and 17, which is why I’m particularly excited about it. Additionally, it’s a free download from the Chariz repository, so you don’t even need to pay any money to give it a try.
If you’re planning on tricking out your jailbroken iPhone or iPad after using Dopamine or palera1n, then I don’t think you can really go wrong with Mitsuha 6. This amazing tweak will benefit anyone who listens to music frequently, likes waveforms, and appreciates having something fun to look at while they daze into space as the music plays.
